Preparing for the study

Preparing for sample collection

You will need to fast (Do not eat) for at least 8 hours for collection or (usually from 10 pm the night before).

Please record the time you last had something other than water to drink or eat.

If you are a smoker, also record the last time you had a smoke. Wear comfortable-fitting clothing, avoid hard jeans, heavy jewellery and loads in the pockets.

Preparing for the interview

A trained interviewer will contact you by phone and set the interview time and date. The interview will be conducted at a time that is convenient to you.

For the interview, it is best that you are in a quiet environment that will allow you to focus on the interview and response to sensitive and personal questions.

Collecting the data

The REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) platform, will be used for electronic survey data collection and study data management. The REDCap system is a secure, web-based application that is flexible enough to be used for a wide variety of research studies.

Confidentiality

Written informed consent will be obtained from all person that participate in the study. All biological samples and surveys will be de-identified. Data will be collected electronically using Redcap, a secure web based system. Information and samples will only be shared with their permission.

Accessing the findings

Individuals that are a part of the study will soon be able to access study findings, papers, and publications.

In the meantime, our LIFE Talks live stream on YouTube has useful information that is always accessible.
